The documentary Freedom Fields by British / Libyan director Naziha Arebi will be screened on Tuesday March 19 at 8:00 pm at the Thinking Football Film Festival.
Filmed over 5 years, Arebi follows the fate and dreams of the former players of the Libyan national football team, showing the struggle for the right to play amidst conflict, extremism and a country in transition. We witness the day to day struggle and dreams of freedom of a group of players whose greatest weapons are hope and togetherness.
The former captain of the team, who is now also co-founder of their sport for development charity HERA, will attend the film festival along with the film’s director and chat with the audience after the screening. The discussion will be moderated by the Head of Alliances, Innovation and Knowledge of the FC Barcelona Foundation, Aisha Al-Said.
